You know your Whoodle is bright, cuddly, and a little extra sensitive.
That sensitivity is a superpower — but it also means stress can sneak up on you.
Here are the early warning signs we watch for in our own dogs, plus quick fixes you can use today.
1. Sudden Clinginess or Shadowing
A normally confident Whoodle that becomes a velcro dog overnight is telling you they do not feel safe.
Look for following you room to room, leaning hard on your legs, or pawing for reassurance.
Give them a predictable routine, add a comfy station near you, and practice brief, easy departures with a stuffed Kong so alone-time feels safe again.
2. Pacing and Restlessness
Stressy energy leaks out as circling the house, getting up and down repeatedly, or constantly asking to go in and out.
Swap one long walk for two shorter sniff-walks and a ten-minute scatter-feed in the yard. Mental foraging takes the edge off better than marching.
3. Yawning, Lip Licking, and Sniffing
These are classic displacement behaviors: small, polite ways a dog says this is a lot right now.
If you see a stack of yawns, nose licks, and sudden sniffing when nothing smells interesting, reduce the intensity of whatever you are doing and praise calm.
4. Whale Eye and Pinned Ears
When the whites of the eyes flash or the ears slide back and down, your Whoodle is over threshold.

Dial back evening excitement, add a late potty break, and give them a dark, draft-free sleep spot. White noise can help sound-sensitive dogs settle.

Stress shrinks a dog’s coping window. That can look like indoor accidents, crate refusals, or chewing baseboards when left alone.
Return to basics: manage with baby gates, enrich with food puzzles, and reward outdoor potties like you are training from scratch. For separation issues, start with absences under your dog’s threshold and build up.
Lower the intensity of the situation, give them distance, offer a long-lasting chew or lick mat, and take a five-minute sniff walk. Speak softly and move slowly. Avoid adding commands; let decompression do the work.
High energy wants an outlet. Stress shows up as displacement signals like lip licks, whale eye, startle, and clinginess. If activity plus sniffing time reduces the behavior, it was likely energy. If it persists or escalates, think stress.
