Whippets are sighthounds, bred to spot movement and accelerate like a slingshot for short bursts.
They can hit 30–35 mph, but only for a minute or two. After that? They are professional nappers.
2. Sweet, Sensitive, and a Little Velcro
Most Whippets are gentle, quiet, and people-focused. They love to be near you — on the sofa, under a blanket, or tucked against your leg.
They do not thrive with harsh voices or chaotic homes. Soft handling builds their confidence and keeps that sweet temperament shining.

3. Exercise Needs: Sprints, Not Marathons
Plan on daily walks plus 2–3 short zoomie sessions a week in a safely enclosed area.
