1. Repeated Yawning and Lip Licking
One sleepy yawn is normal. A string of yawns or little tongue flicks during grooming, vet visits, or when a stranger bends over your Maltipoo is classic calming behavior.
We treat it like an early yellow light — add distance, slow things down, and keep hands gentle and brief.
2. Whale Eye and Fast Blinking
When your Maltipoo holds the head still but shows the whites at the corners, that side-eye says I am not okay.
Fast blinking and head turns away from the trigger mean they are trying to de-escalate. Respect the request and give space.
3. Low Posture and a Tucked or Flagging Tail
