1. They Are Small, Not Low-Energy
Corgis are a herding breed packed into a compact body. Walks alone won't cut it.
Plan on 60–90 minutes of activity a day split between brisk walks, training games, and sniffy enrichment.
Short legs don't mean short stamina — mine will out-hike casual walkers, just at a comically fast shuffle.

2. Shedding Is Real (And Seasonal)
Pembrokes have a dense double coat that blows twice a year, with light shedding the rest of the time.
A weekly slicker/undercoat rake routine keeps tumbleweeds at bay; during blowout season, bump to every other day and add a deshedding bath.
3. Smart, Opinionated, and Herdy
They learn fast — including bad habits. Consistency beats volume.
Channel that herding brain with clicker games, nose work, and short obedience bursts. Many Corgis love agility or herding-instinct tests.
Nipping at heels and circling kids or other pets isn't "mean" — it's instinct. Teach a rock-solid "leave it" and rewarding alternatives like a tug toy or mat settle.

5. Expect Barking Without A Plan
Corgis are alert and vocal. Left to their own devices, they'll narrate the mail, the wind, and your thoughts.
Meet the need: structured watch time at a window, then close blinds; teach a "thank you" cue to end alerts; and pay quiet with snacks when triggers appear.

7. They Thrive On Purpose and People
Pembrokes are people-forward problem solvers. They want a job and your company.
If you work long hours away from home, budget for dog walkers, daycare, or training classes to keep their brain busy and prevent mischief.
When you give them structure and silliness — a morning task, a midday sniff, a bedtime cuddle — a Corgi becomes the funniest coworker and the most earnest teammate you'll ever have.
